DISQUALIFIED driver Jason Gettings could not claim he did not know he was breaking the law when he got behind the wheel.
For when Gettings, aged 27, was caught by police it was the eighth time in three and a half years he had been stopped while banned, Bury magistrates were told.
Mr Mike Church-Taylor, prosecuting, said Gettings was arrested on Bell Lane, Bury. "It quickly became obvious that the defendant was disqualified and he was arrested. In fact he has seven previous convictions, the last one in February when he was further banned until September, 2003."
Gettings, of Fern Grove, Bury, admitted driving while disqualified and having no insurance.
On his behalf it was said that he had "taken the risk" after being asked by his partner's daughter to be driven to the doctor's to pick up essential medication for her baby.
Gettings was sentto prison for one month and disqualified from driving for a further two years.
