TRACEY Neville and her England netball teammates are still on course for a Commonwealth Games medal after the first week.

The England girls take on current holders Australia at the MEN Arena tonight for a place in Sunday's final.

The Aussies are sure to be tough cookies but Bury-born Tracey reckons that their style could suit England better than second-ranked New Zealand who crushed them 67-35 in their final Pool A match on Monday night.

Leading into that game England had enjoyed one-sided victories against Canada (87-26), Sri Lanka (75-34) and Wales (81-18) and that too could have been a pointer to their heavy defeat.

"Having three easy matches before the Kiwi game may have worked against us," explained Tracey, sister of Manchester United's Gary and Phil.

"They really came out at us strongly from the start and we struggled to adapt to their zonal play.

"We missed a good number of chances early in the game and that didn't help our cause either.

"But the Australians play a similar style to us and hopefully we can capitalise on that and take our chances."

That defeat meant England had to play off against South Africa on Wednesday night for the chance to face the Aussies in the final four.

Crucially, they bounced back with a fine 55-40 victory that wasn't without a scare for Tracey who had to be helped off with an ankle injury.

"It was an old problem that had troubled me earlier in the year but I only went off as a precaution," she added.

Tip-off tonight is 8.30pm with the Sunday's final scheduled for 3pm and the bronze medal play-off 1pm.
