Westhoughton and Greenmount will on Sunday attempt to do the unexpected - by reaching the final of the Hamer Cup.
Most Bolton League observers have decided that Walkden and Kearsley will contest this year's final - that is everyone outside Westhoughton and Greenmount.
Of the two semi-finals, Westhoughton have perhaps the toughest job when they go to Walkden but with the champions having had one or two setbacks of late, the Tyldesleys side are not without hope.
They will have to be on top form though as Walkden's ultra strong batting line-up, particularly the top order of pro Douglas Watson, David Smith, Mike Bennison and Matt Parkinson, can, and have, tamed most of the league's bowling attacks.
That puts a certain amount of pressure on Westhoughton's bowlers but if pro Kahn, Duncan Preston, Mike Crookson and Mubarek Patel can at least stifle the flow of runs, then they have the batsmen in the Parker brothers, Ian Pilkington and Adam Coates to perhaps take advantage.
In the other semi-final Robin Morris and Akber were team-mates in last week's Bolton League Trinity Cup line-up. Now they are on opposite sides and that is where the tie between Kearsley and Greenmount could be decided.
Morris the batsman against Akber the bowler looks an intriguing contest but there are also others who could have a major bearing on the result.
Kearsley look the stronger batting side but the pace of Mark Stewart has long been a trump card for Greenmount and if he and Morris, who last week took 7-39 against Heaton, can hit the mark then the game will be evenly balance.
