SAM Allardyce has told Jay-Jay Okocha he may need time to come to terms with the pace of the Premiership.
The Nigerian international, snapped up on a free from Paris St Germain, is regarded as one of the world's most creative players.
But he is new to the Premiership and the Wanderers' boss has warned him not to bank on being an instant hit.
"If he's feeling the pinch, he may not start games to begin with or he may start and have to be taken off," Allardyce explained.
"I've warned him about how quick the Premiership is but you don't get to know exactly how quick until you play in it. I hope that's not the case with him because he's been around the world and he's a great talent. But it does take time to settle."
