PROTESTERS are going to the High Court on Monday in a last-ditch effort to stop the closure of four old people's homes.
They are seeking an injunction against Bury Council, which wants to shut two of the four residential homes next month.
Residents and their relatives have formed a campaign group, "Save Homes In Time", and are appealing to the public for help.
They have engaged solicitor Yvonne Hossack to fight the case on behalf of residents at Warthfield in Bury and Whittaker House in Radcliffe.
Ms Hossack said an injunction would prevent the council moving residents out of the affected homes, a process which has already started at a third home, Claremont in Prestwich.
The action group has been backed by Liberal Democrat councillor Vic D'Albert, who said: "I have never seen such an ill-thought-through policy come before the council."
Cllr Mike Connolly, executive member for social services, said the council would be defending its decision because it believed it was right.
