A BRASS band will march through Horwich and Rivington to celebrate the rededication of Lever Park -- 100 years after it opened.
The park was one of Lord Leverhulme's gifts to Bolton and celebrations take place there on Sunday.
The Vicar of Bolton will rededicate the park following the brass band procession which starts at 1pm at the Black Bull, in Church Road, Horwich.
Entertainment at the park will include the Octagon youth theatre and a play by drama group Activ8 about the history of the park and about the Japanese Gardens and their connection with Lord Leverhulme.
The play will be performed among the castle ruins at around 3pm and on Rivington village green at 4pm.
Rehearsals have been taking place at 16 Wood Street -- the birthplace of Lord Leverhulme. The Liverpool Corporation Act of 1902 established the park "for the use and enjoyment of the public for ever".
Supporters from Bolton, Horwich and Chorley formed a special group to work towards this weekend's Lever Park centenary event, which is a week before the actual date of the 100th anniversary.
Further details of the group can be obtained through the secretary on 01204 691833.
