VISITORS to a Farnworth park can look forward to using a new pavilion. The last one was damaged by fire and will have to be demolished.
Members of the planning committee had previously rejected the application for Farnworth Central Park, in Gladstone Road, on the grounds that the design was not good enough.
However, the new design -- for a one-storey building clad in brick with a pitched tiled roof -- met with everyone's approval. Cllr Donald Carr said: "This design is very smart-looking -- the last one we had considered looked like a hut."
and wasn't suitable."
The pavilion will be built on the site of the old one, overlooking the bowling green and near the war monument.
