I FEEL I must write regarding the Commonwealth Games held recently at "Manchester".
I agree that the Games have been a great success, and will be a hard act to follow when they are held in Melbourne in four years time.
There is a slight problem though, and that is what about the venue that held the badminton, what about the road cycle races, yes, what mention has there been of Bolton regarding hosting these events?
The athletes taking part would give great praise, I am sure, to the people of Bolton, for their hospitality, support and enthusiasm on hosting these events.
The people of Bolton played a huge part in the success of the games. All we have had is how well Manchester has done in hosting the games, without a single mention about Bolton.
I would have thought the Mayor of Manchester would have at least had the decency to recognise the town in his speech.
Why are our councillors not highlighting this fact, are they just happy to be lap dogs to our larger relatives. They should be standing up and shouting "eh we played a part too!"
If this means an ego boost to the town, then, yes, why not be proud to be from Bolton, and let everyone know that you also can make the country proud by successfully hosting events for a major tournament.
