A BOLTON Euro MP is calling for Government chiefs to offer Bolton Council cash rewards to improve its energy efficiency.
Chris Davies's call comes as new figures show Bolton Council has one of the lowest annual improvement rates in the North-west of wasted energy from heating and lighting public buildings. Mr Davies, Liberal Democrat environment spokesman in the European Parliament, said reducing wasted energy is an effective way of cutting emissions of global warming gasses.
He added: "The Government should speed up the pace by making targets set legally binding, and offering financial rewards to those who meet them."
