Wanderers' chiefs are understood to be doing some hard bargaining in their attempt to sign Real Madrid centre-back Ramos Ivan Campo.
As talks continued today, reports from Spain suggest the 28-year-old defender is looking for big compensation for severing his ties with Real.
The report - carried on a number of European websites - confirms that Campo met Wanderers' officials yesterday when he checked out the club's facilities and the terms on offer. He is said to be asking for at least a three-year contract and is demanding that Real grant him the freedom to leave the Bernabeu, despite having a year remaining on his present contract.
Meanwhile, Allardyce has decided not to pursue his interest in Italian international centre-back Alessandro Pierini and his Fiorentina team-mate, midfielder Fabio Rossitto.
The pair have had trials at the Reebok but returned to Italy yesterday without being offered terms
