HERE'S your chance to win a family "Passport to Southport" worth more than £100!
The passport includes free family entry to both days of Southport Air Show and all three nights of the British Musical Fireworks Championship, plus four all-day wristbands for Southport's Pleasureland theme park.
The Southport Air Show, at Southport Beach on August 31 and September 1, will feature the first-ever formation display by four Harrier vertical take-off "jump jets". The air show is now established as the North-west's premier aviation event.
Other attractions will include an appearance by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, featuring Spitfire, Hurricane and Dakota aircraft, and a Second World War Swordfish biplane from the Royal Navy Historic Flight.
In addition, there will be appearances by the RAF's Tornado and Jaguar fast jets, vintage jets, the Lynx helicopter pair, skydivers, mass parachute landings and aerobatic champions.
On the beach, a large exhibition area will feature everything from refreshments and rides to the latest flight simulators and displays of military equipment.
The British Musical Fireworks Championship, at Kings Garden, Southport, from September 6 to 8, will see six of the country's top pyrotechnics companies competing for the coveted title of British Musical Fireworks Champions 2002.
Their precision displays cast breathtaking reflections on the surface of Southport's Marine Lake and are accompanied by a wide range of pop and classical music.
Each display will use around half a ton of fireworks and cost more than £300 a minute. Some individual fireworks are fired up to 600 feet into the air.
Head to Pleasureland for family fun and white-knuckle rides like The Traumatizer -- the UK's tallest, fastest, suspended looping roller coaster -- and, new for 2002, the 125ft freefall ride Space Shot.
Thrillseekers should also ride The Cyclone, a classic wooden rollercoaster beloved of coaster enthusiasts all over the world.
