DEATHS from substance abuse has dropped, according to new figures.
A report by the St George's Hospital Medical School, London, found that in 2000 there were 64 deaths, compared to 75 in 1999.
Re-Solv, a charity focusing on preventing substance abuse, welcomed the reduction but warned against complacency.
On average more than one person still dies each week from abusing solvents.
