A NEW face is to represent Belmont on rural Bolton's North Turton Parish Council.
Parish councillor Violet Pope, a local councillor for two years, announced her retirement this week.
It is understood that she is stepping down after moving to Cheshire with two years left of her term of office.
Candidates are now being sought and applications will be considered at a meeting next month. An in-house vote will be taken if more than one person runs for nomination.
Created in 1974, North Turton Parish Council represents Edgworth, Chapeltown and Belmont.
It is strictly non-political, but the council aims to elect a mixture of members from each political group. Local interest, willingness and residence are the main priorities, they say.
In January, Ian Bevan, of Maria Square, Belmont, became the seventh parish councillor to sit on the council, replacing Sandra McGuiness, who stepped down after four years last November. He represents Belmont.
The Chapeltown seat was also left vacant last September following the resignation of Jenny Holditch.
Standing under the Conservative Party banner, mother-of-three Deborah Dunleavy, aged 37, of Green Arms Road, Chapeltown, was voted in over Green Party representative and Edgworth resident Graeme McIver.
