IN 1946 I was a second year pupil at Farnworth Grammar School aged 12/13 years.
One of my contemporaries was your columnist Fred Shawcross.
In the photograph you published on Friday, August 23, comparing school uniforms then and now, the lad at the end of the second row from the back looks very much like the Fred I knew then, with a mop of black hair and a fresh-complexioned cheeky smile!
Could it be him?
