KYLE Hogg boosted his chances of a place alongside James Anderson at the English cricket academy in Adelaide this winter by hitting a century in front of coach Rod Marsh for England under-19s yesterday.

Hogg made 103 and also took three wickets although England still lost the game, and the series, under the Duckworth-Lewis rules.

Hogg, who has missed Lancashire's last eight Championship matches after such an impressive start to the season, has now completed his under-19 commitments and should return to the team for Sunday's Norwich Union match against Essex at Old Trafford.

The Lancashire Cricket Board qualified for next season's C&G Trophy yesterday with a 31-run win against Oxfordshire in Banbury.

Cheshire also went through by beating Huntingdonshire at Toft.
