I DECIDED to brighten up my life with a bit of comedy this week, and so I headed down to the Come Play With Aftershock event at The Frog and Bucket on Wednesday.
Now, it's not often that you see naked breakdancing but it has to be said that the Cuban Brothers are great ambassadors for the sport. The evening starred a variety of comedians, including Ralf Little and Ross Noble, but the Cubans were the highlight. They came on between all the other acts and really went down a storm. Their jokes might not have been the strongest but, boy, can they dance!
There will be lots more events like this going on over the next few weeks as Keyfest gets into its stride. If you want to spend your summer watching great entertainment around Manchester then you can pick up a Keyfest brochure from Key 103 reception and find out what's on where.
It's the Smash Hits show tomorrow and I have a feeling that Gareth Gates might climb from number two to steal the top spot from JXL.
I feel it is my duty to tell you that I am now an award-winning DJ. I found out last week that the Smash Hits chart show won a New York Radio Award for best network radio programme. How cool is that? Unfortunately I didn't get to go to New York to pick it up. Next time I will have my bag packed in preparation, you mark my words!
There is another awards ceremony next Friday in London which I WILL be attending. I think I'll start preparing my speech now -- maybe do a Halle Berry and weep inconsolably.
As for this weekend, it is the bright lights of Bolton and not London that I'll be seeing. Drop in to Ikon tonight and I'll be spinning all your favourite dance tunes as usual. See you there.
