WITH the transfer situation for the Football League still uncertain Bury boss Andy Preece has been exploring the possibility of keeping Manchester City midfielder Terry Dunfield at Gigg Lane for a longer period.

The 20-year-old Canadian has become a firm favourite with Shakers' fans since arriving from Maine Road two weeks ago and Preece is in no mood to lose him just yet.

"For clubs like ours, everything is up in the air as far as the transfer window is concerned as the League haven't been notified by FIFA," he said.

"But we'll be making sure we cover ourselves. Terry has done very well and we'd love him to stay, but if we lost him we'd have to bring in someone who would do a similar job for us."

Bury aim to build on the three-game unbeaten run at Nationwide League newcomers Boston United tomorrow.

The Pilgrims are currently sitting bottom in Division Three after having four points deducted for financial irregularities last season.

They have won one and drawn two of their first five games and Preece expects a hot time for his side in Lincolnshire tomorrow.

"Boston are in a false position and ought to be in mid-table with five points," he said, "but they are only just finding their feet, it's all new to them and their fans will be excited."

The Shakers add full-back Matt Barrass to the squad that defeated Shrewsbury, but have doubts about defender Lee Unsworth who went over on his ankle in training yesterday.

Both midfielder David Borley and striker Gareth Seddon are close to a recall, but are just a bit short of match fitness.
