TEENAGE boy knocked a pensioner to the ground before attempting to steal her pension.
The 15-year-old boy approached the woman after she collected her pension at Tonge Moor Post Office at 9.15am yesterday.
He pushed the 79-year-old to the ground before trying to take the cash but a passer-by spotted what was happening and shouted across and the boy fled.
The teenager was wearing a pale baseball cap, a dark top, and track suit bottoms and it is thought that another teenager was waiting for him further along the street.
Insp John Dunstan said: "We would warn people to be especially vigilant in that area and to be careful what they do with obvious personal belongings of value."
Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 0161 872 5050.
