I HAVE recently been shopping in the town centre and was appalled at what I saw.
I happened to walk through Bolton Parish Churchyard in Churchgate. I believe the location to be mentioned in the Bolton Heritage/History Trail and home of the Samuel Crompton memorial tombstone.
The area was a disgusting array of overflowing litter bins, rubbish-strewn pathways, broken benches, dog mess and the resident alcoholics of the area. If this is how we maintain our heritage, what chance does Bolton have of gaining city status? What an embarrassment!
