IT'S back to school soon for all our little darlings -- and time to worry once more about what to put in their lunchboxes.
In National Bread Week, Bolton breadmakers Warburtons consulted dietician Nia Rees Williams for some healthy ideas to help parents. Naturally, she suggests that bread is vital for our daily diets -- low in fat, a good source of fibre, carbohydrates, calcium, iron and vitamins. Other useful ideas include:
FISH FOR THOUGHT LUNCHBOX -- tuna and sweetcorn sandwich with low-fat mayonnaise on wholemeal bread; cherry tomatoes; fromage frais, banana and grapes.
HEALTHY APPETITE LUNCHBOX -- layered club sandwich with three slices of white bread, topping one slice with ham and lettuce, then white bread on top, then a top layer of cheese and tomato; sultana scone; apple, kiwi.
FRUIT AND NUTCRACKER! -- peanut butter and hummus sandwich on granary or seeded bread; fruit yoghurt; breadsticks and raisins; satsuma; pear.
