LEIGH MP Andy Burnham has written to the victims of recent flooding to reassure them that the devastation will not happen again.
The torrential rains of June 14 and July 3 flooded many homes and businesses in the area, particularly in Hindley.
Mr Burnham has written to residents to outline what steps have been taken to prevent repeat damage and to offer advice to those who were flooded.
He said: "I have seen the devastation these floods have brought to many people's lives.
"Although I have provided direct support for individual constituents, I have also campaigned to address immediate problems and to agree a course of action with Wigan Council and United Utilities to tackle these problems at the root cause.
"Inevitably, I will not have written to everyone so if anyone would like more information contact me at my office at 10 Market Street, Leigh."
