Wanderers legend Roy Hartle is the latest former footballer to support a soccer pilgrimage tomorrow in aid of Bolton's Coronary Care Appeal.

The right-back, who helped keep a clean sheet against Manchester United in the 1958 FA Cup Final, will cheer on fans making a seven-mile trek from the site of Wanderers' former Burnden Park ground to the Reebok Stadium.

Roy will be at the starting line in the Big W car park at 10am, encouraging those taking part in the sponsored walk, the route of which goes via the club's first ground at Pikes Lane.

At the finishing line -- the Reebok Stadium -- his old colleague, Nat Lofthouse, will greet walkers.

They will include Wanderers mascot Lofty the Lion; the Mayor of Bolton, Cllr John Walsh; Bolton Evening News editor-in-chief Steve Hughes, and Warburton's boss Brett Warburton.

The walk is also in honour of the club's 125th anniversary. Hundreds of football supporters have already signed up and more people are being urged to take part in the tribute, which takes place on the morning of Bolton's Premiership home game against Aston Villa.

The football club's support is seen as a major boost to the appeal, which aims to raise £1 million for heart attack victims at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

It is hoped the campaign will raise enough money to build a new 10-bed coronary care unit. More than £580,000 has already been raised through donations from local people.

Walkers are asked to gather in the car park of the Big W at 10am.

The walk is open to all supporters and charity fund-raisers. Those not going to the match can catch free buses from the Reebok back to Bolton.

Sponsorship forms are available from the Bolton Coronary Care Appeal office at the Royal Bolton Hospital, the cashier's office at Royal Bolton Hospital, Bolton Wanderers, or the Mayor's office at Bolton Town Hall.

Donations can be made directly to the appeal. For further details, contact the appeals team on 01204 390111.
