FIREFIGHTERS had to climb down into a 20-foot sewer to rescue two dogs.
A woman was walking the Staffordshire bull terriers on open land next to Orchard Drive in Bury yesterday when they ran out of view.
She called the fire brigade after realising that the dogs had fallen through an open manhole.
Rescuers put on breathing apparatus and climbed down into the sewers using a rope to retrieve the two dogs, who were not injured.
