PRIVATE rented accommodation for asylum seekers in Little Hulton, Walkden and Worsley will be subject to tougher guidelines if council chiefs get their way.
Salford City Council has more than 300 asylum seekers in council-owned accommodation and it helps provide health and education support for them.
But council chiefs are worried that asylum seekers can also be placed in the private rented sector by other agencies without the council having any control over the location.
They have written to government minister Beverley Hughes calling for councils to be told where they are and for all private properties to be safety checked, furnished and heated.
