YOUNG adventurers from Bolton are riding on the crest of a wave after being given a chance to take part in fun-packed outdoor events.
They enjoyed activities such as canoeing, abseiling and orienteering during a summer programme organised by community groups.
The events were part of the East Bolton Regeneration Pathways Project, which gives children new opportunities.
Organisers of the Pathway Project's Keep on Moving scheme, which lasted all of August, hope they will develop the skills and self-confidence of the 11 to 15-year-olds.
Les Elvin, from the Withins After Schools Play Scheme, who went with the teams, said: "I'm really proud of our young people. This shows what they can do."
East Bolton Regeneration's Sport, Play and Recreation Strategy will be launched at Withins Leisure Centre on October 8. It has £380,000 for local organisations providing sports and activities for young people. For information, contact Sarah Poole on 01204 334020.
