MANCHESTER City's Shaun Wright-Phillips has had the red card he received on Saturday reduced to a yellow. Referee Barry Knight sent the Blues wing back off for a reckless challenge during the win over Everton.
The decision meant City fought out the last hour with only 10-men and sparked fury at Maine Road with manager Kevin Keegan saying no other referee would have given a red card and rival manager David Moyes offering to support City in any appeal.
The Kent official immediately changed his decision on reviewing the incident and Knight stated that the foul was a cautionable rather than a sending off offence meaning Wright-Phillips will not serve a suspension.
