RESEARCHERS in Manchester have identified a rogue gene that causes babies to be born with a cleft lip or palate.
In years to come, the discovery could lead to treatments during pregnancy that might prevent the condition.
Professor Michael Dixon, from the University of Manchester, led a British team working with US colleagues.
