MIGRAINE sufferers in Bolton are being given a head start -- with extra advice on the nurse-led telephone helpline NHS Direct.
As part of Migraine Awareness month, the Bolton-based nursing telephone service is offering more support for sufferers. NHS Direct say that more than 10 million people in the UK suffer from migraines, with 90,000 of those unable to go to work or school because of the nausea and vomitting.
Joanne Royle, director of NHS Direct, said: "There is a common misconception that a migraine is nothing more than a headache. In fact, a migraine is far worse, with attacks lasting between four and 72 hours, leaving people unable to carry out even the most simple everyday tasks and activities."
Those who need extra help and advice on the problem of migraines can ring NHS Direct on 0845 4647.
