NATURE enthusiasts in Bolton are being asked to clock the start of autumn as part of a national survey on climate change.
The Woodland Trust has gathered evidence that higher average temperatures from January to April meant almost every characteristic of spring happened up to three weeks earlier than last year.
It now wants to do the same with autumn and people from all over the country are needed to note down signs like when swifts and swallows depart and leaves start to fall. Log on to www.phenology.org.uk to download a simple recording form.
