FIREMEN made a citizens' arrest on a suspected arsonist in Bolton town centre late last night.
A 37-year-old woman was detained as she walked through Victoria Square.
Fire crews doused half a dozen bin fires outside shops in Knowsley Street. Cardboard was also set alight in Deansgate, damaging the front of a shop.
Firefighters were alerted by staff at a fast food restaurant. Crews from Bolton Central arrived and put out the fires before setting off on foot through the town centre.
They walked towards Victoria Square and found the woman, from Bolton, near the town hall.
They rang the police and stayed with her until officers arrived. The woman, who has not been named, was due to be questioned by detectives today.
