HORSE riders, off-road cyclists and walkers will soon be able to enjoy a new national trail that runs through Bolton.
The Bolton Feeder Route links with the Pennine Bridleway Trail in Rossendale, passing though Rivington and Smithills.
The route has been given the go-ahead by the Countryside Agency and has been partly paid for by the West Pennine Moors project and Sports England Lottery Fund.
It will start at Smithills Coaching House car park, will go past the old Smithills Garden Centre and on to Smithills Dean Road. Riders will have the option of riding up the Dean or taking a new route through the woodland next to Sheep House Farm.
Cllr Donald Grime, Bolton's Executive Member for Direct Services, said: "This exciting new route will take in some of Bolton's most picturesque areas."
