Wanderers confirmed today they are considering playing reserve games at Warrington.
But reports that a deal has already been struck have been described as premature.
Warrington Wolves RL club claim they will be staging the matches when their new Winwick Road stadium is completed for the 2004-05 season.
But Wanderers' secretary Simon Marland says no decision has been made and the Warrington move is just "something we could consider."
According to the Wolves in a report in the Warrington Guardian, the initial verbal agreement with Wanderers is for one season, which will then be reviewed.
The link-up is understood to have come from Wanderers' chairman Phil Gartside's connection with the Cheshire town. He is chairman of the Warrington firm Lockers and a regular at Wolves games.
Warrington Wolves chief executive Andy Gatcliffe said: "It's another sport and another interest for the people of the borough. I'm delighted with the arrangement."
