SVEN Goran Eriksson should have known that Alex Ferguson would pull David Beckham and Paul Scholes out of Saturday's squad for England's friendly with Portugal.
Just like that over-the-top tackle by Roy Keane on Alfie Inge Haaland had been coming for three years, Ferguson's decision to pull players fit enough to play out of the England squad on grounds they are not fit enough to play has been coming since England took David Beckham on a pre-World Cup training camp against the Manchester United manager's wishes.
Just like Keane has to have the last word so does Fergie. This was just his way of reminding Eriksson that nobody, not even the England manager, puts one over on him and gets away with it.
