ST Joseph's Players at Leigh are hard at work rehearsing for their next production, Frank Hardy's brilliant drama based on Thomas Hardy's On the Western Circuit.
Anna, a servant girl who has been somewhat befriended by her mistress, meets Charles at the annual country town fair. A second meeting leads to not unexpected consequences.
Anna is genuinely fond of the young man who writes to her but unfortunately Anna cannot read or write and persuades her mistress to correspond with him on her behalf.
It runs nightly (7.30pm) from Tuesday, September 10 to Saturday, September 14 at Leigh St Joseph's Hall in Chapel Street. Tickets cost £4 adults and £2 under 16s available from Boardmans Outfitters, Bradshawgate, Leigh or party on the door.
Fancy yourself on stage or behind the scenes?
St Joseph's Players are especially short of male actors (some acting experience would be beneficial) and reliable team members aged 18 or over to join the lighting crew.
