A BUSINESS conference held in Bolton promoting links between India and Britain -- hailed a success during the Commonwealth Games -- could become a twice yearly event.
As part of its celebrations Bolton hosted the Information and Communication Technology Matchmaking Event and India Lunch at the Reebok Stadium.
Representatives from the Indian community spoke about the important role of small ethnic minority groups in the UK and the need to promote links beween businesses.
It was organised by the new North West Business Club, set up as part of the Games, which Bolton has joined.
Digby Jones, director general of CBI, praised Bolton as "modern and absolutely fantastic and an example to the world" for hosting the major event.
The council is now working with the Business Club to arrange similar events which could bring further economic benefits to Bolton.
A council spokesman said: "The ICT Event was one of the first of many business club events to take place and was very successful.
"There was exremely positive feedback such as requests for more activities of this nature which should take place on a bi-annual basis."
