BUS lanes and a park-and-ride scheme are to be launched in Worsley.
Greater Manchester Passenger Authority (GMPTE) has been granted the go-ahead on two planning applications which form part of its Leigh to Manchester guided busway.
It will now push ahead with building a park-and-ride car park at the junction of the A580 and M60 and bus lanes between Newearth Road and the East Lancashire Road in Worsley.
GMPTE officials say the busway scheme, costing £26 million, will ease traffic congestion by encouraging more people to use new, faster bus routes.
Residents objected to both schemes arguing that they would create more traffic and pollution.
