TWO sisters cheated death when a stolen car ploughed into them as they stood on a pavement in a hit-and-run collision.
Two men fled from the Suzuki, which had been stolen minutes earlier, after the car struck Zena Martyn, aged 21, and her 19-year-old sister Sofia, in Crostons Road, Bury, at 11.45am yesterday.
The sisters, of Grantham Drive, Brandlesholme, were taken to Fairfield Hospital. Their injuries are not thought to be life-threatening and their condition was described today as comfortable.
Police say the silver car was trying to overtake traffic queues when the incident occurred. It had been stolen from Bury Car Centre in Tottington Road.
The men are described as white and in their late teens. Witnesses should contact Bury Traffic Unit on 0161 856 8072 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
