DEAN Holdsworth has advised his brother, David, to set October 2 as the target date for his return to first team football.
That is the night Wanderers are due to enter the Worthington Cup and the popular Reebok striker believes it could be the chance for the 33-year-old twins to team up again for the first time in 13 years.
"It's not for me to say because the gaffer picks the team but he's not known for putting out his first team players in these cup ties," Dean explained. "So I've told David he might just look at that date. He hasn't played competitive football for four months but he's looked after himself and he's very fit."
A shock deadline-day signing, David has been given a chance to revive his career at the Reebok having found himself without a club after leaving Birmingham City at the end of last season. He signed a month-to-month deal which Sam Allardyce pushed through with just hours to spare, adding extra defensive cover to his squad - a move which reunited the Walthamstow-born twins who kicked off their careers at Watford and were team-mates at Vicarage Road until Dean moved to Brentford in 1989.
David, the elder twin by 40 minutes, is aware of the cup date but insists: "I'm just taking each day as it comes. I'm going to work hard and, if given the opportunity, I'll take it. Sam's got a very good squad but, if I can give him even a selection headache, I'll be delighted."
