BURY go into tonight's Third Division clash with high-flying York City looking to do something no other team have managed so far - stop Peter Duffield scoring.
The much-travelled City hitman is the division's leading goalscorer with six to his name and boasts a goal in every match so far.
His scoring exploits are a big reason why the Minstermen have made such an impressive start with four wins a draw and one defeat to their name.
Nevertheless Shakers boss Andy Preece is confident his side can put a spanner in the Yorkshiremen's works and halt Duffield's impressive spell.
"It should be a great game and hopefully one the fans will want to come down and see," he said.
"York are going really well and stand second in the table but if we beat them - and we can - we're only a couple of points behind.
"They are an aggressive team, don't sit back and go looking for goals, it'll probably be our toughest test so far so it should be another cracker.
"Our last two home matches have been high-scoring affairs and we've been playing some attractive football in recent weeks, it could be a good time to come down and see us." According to Preece, a big gate against the Minstermen and one in next Tuesday's Worthington Cup first round tie against Stoke City at Gigg could ease the way to an extended stay for loan signings Terry Dunfield and Pawel Abbott.
He is hopeful both will be able to stay longer at Gigg Lane but is acutely aware that money through the gate still has a big say. "It would be magnificent if we could get around 4,000 for the next two matches," he added.
"Both are big games but matches we can win, I just hope the public of Bury can respond, and we can put a performance in for them."
Preece looks likely to stand by the squad that played at Boston United with George Clegg added to the squad for a rare Friday night clash.
Gareth Seddon and Ian Kilford are closer to fitness and both were on target in the reserves 3-3 draw at Tranmere on Wednesday evening.
The Shakers were 3-1 down at the interval but battled back bravely for Dave Nugent to head home a leveller.
Meanwhile City look certain to give a first outing of the season to Northern Ireland goalkeeper Alan Fettis.
Fettis missed the start of the season with a broken finger which forced manager Terry Dolan to bring in Middlesbrough keeper Marlon Beresford on a month's loan.
Hopes were high that the former Burnley shotstopper would stay for another month but a deal couldn't be brokered and Beresford has now darted back to Turf Moor on a month's loan.
City boss Dolan will pick up the Third Division manager of the month award ahead of tonight's match.
Kick-off at Gigg Lane is 7.45pm.
