BANK Holiday Monday was the date for the Final of the Harold Jobbins Shield.
The venue of Little Hulton Conservative Club, with its pleasant surroundings and friendly atmosphere, was an excellent choice.
In front of a very enthusiastic crowd of over 150, the finalists Doe Hey and Boothstown produced a final which ebbed and flowed until the final game.
Both teams provided some excellent bowling which had the spectators on the edges of their seats from start to finish.
The final was eventually won by Doe Hey with only four chalks being the deciding factor.
Mr Stanley Colley, President of the League, expressed the Leagues thanks to Little Hulton Conservative Club for the use of the venue and the excellent facilities provided.
Jim Heathcote, Doe Hey Secretary, accepted the trophy on behalf of the Club.
