A TRIO of clubs have been tracking Chorley hot-shot Andy Mason.

Mason, who has scored nine goals for the UniBond first division club this season, has been the subject of interest from fellow first division rivals Rossendale and Premier sides Droylsden and Stalybridge, said manager Mark Molyneaux.

"There have been a couple of clubs sniffing round but I would want a fee for him in the region of £5,000-£10,000.

"But nobody has any money at the moment anyway.

"I always tell my players if there has been an approach for them and I told Andy and he said he was happy to stay here anyway."

Chorley travel to UniBond newcomers Kidsgrove tomorrow on the back of a 1-0 defeat in the FA Trophy replay at Stocksbridge on Tuesday.

"We'll just carry on despite the cup defeat," said Molyneaux.

"It was the first time we haven't scored in a game this season but it wasn't for lack of trying.

"We had the chances we just couldn't put them away.

"We hit the post, hit the bar, it just wasn't going in. You deal with that."

Molyneaux was absent from the side due to a knee injury and Paul Eatock - David's brother - replaced him in goal.

"Once again - like the last five games - the keeper has had little to do, just his normal saves, nothing too trying.

"But their goal came from one of our corners and there were four mistakes from us before the ball ended up in the back of the net."

Billy McCartney and Ian Leather both begin three-match suspensions tomorrow and Molyneaux is unsure whether he will come back into the side in goal.

The Magpies are still in the play-off zone in the first division and Molyneaux is happy to stay there.

"We don't want to be at the top to be shot at," he said. "We want to just stay in the running and then make a late run."
