A MAN in his 20s escaped injury when an unattended grill pan caught fire at his home on The Pungle, Westhoughton, yesterday.
Most of his kitchen was badly damaged but a smoke-alarm alerted him to the danger and he was able to get out of the house in time.
He called the fire-brigade and then waited outside until they arrived.
Four fire-fighters wearing breathing kits fought the flames. Then they used an industrial fan to ventilate smoke from the man's home.
