AFEW more details about the Relay Radio query which I reported on earlier in the week after a request for memories of it by a reader.
A Horwich correspondent who wishes to remain anonymous says that the firm referred to was Horton Relays, of Winter Hey Lane, Horwich. "We had one and it consisted of a speaker with lines running from the shop to various customers.
There was a switch for two stations, Home Service and Light Service. It cost 9d a week.
We lived in New Brunswick Street in the 1930s and the shop was straight opposite the street - Barclays Bank is now on the corner. The radios were in the back of the shop, and relayed from there to the speakers."
