SCHOOL students are going 'Stateside' to meet their US partners in a global programme.
The group of eight from Southlands High School, Chorley, will be meeting students from two schools in Georgia who are partners in the Achievers International Programme.
The scheme develops cultural and commercial links between partner schools.
Over the last two years, the Southlands pupils have been working with the US schools to raise money for Biljilo Primary School, in Gambia.
So far, £2,000 has been raised to provide the school with electricity and two computers.
Keith Bolam, a technology teacher who has organised the trip, said: "It is really quite exciting as it is a first for Southlands to venture across the Atlantic.
"It will be both educational and fun.
"We will be looking to invite our American friends to the UK next year."
