A CHRIS Rothwell hat-trick secured a place in the quarter-finals of the BSF Over 35 League Division Two Divisional Cup for Hayward Old Boys.
He was too hot for Walkden Inter to handle as he was the only man on the scoresheet after a 3-0 away triumph.
Seven Stars won their preliminary round against Walkden Wrecks 1-0 with an Ian Bolton goal settling a competitive tie.
The Founders Arms made it through to the last eight in the Division Three Cup with a good 2-1 win away at Walkden AFC. Joining them are Old Smithillians who beat Westhoughton Wingates. A great match ended 3-3 after extra time, but Old Smithillians went through 4-3 after a tense penalty shootout.
The Division One match between Dobbies B and Stand Athletic was postponed and will be re-arranged.
Also played was a re-arranged Division Three league match in which Bottom Bulls Head beat DF Lostock 4-1 to move them up to third place.
