Bolton 2 Bebbington 0: BOLTON'S first eleven brushed off an indifferent pre-season to make a great start to the league with a home success over Bebbington.
They started brightly, with the midfield quartet of Captain Williams, Luke, Short and Chadwick creating a lot for the forward paring of Aitken and Evans.
With the pressure mounting on the Bebbington goal it was not long before a well-worked short corner opened the scoring. Williams struck a sweet shot, which slightly swerved around the oncoming runner, clipped the goalkeeper's pads and lifted into the netting.
In the second half Bolton gained another short corner, from which Tobutt launched a bouncing bomb that sent the Bebbington Goalkeeper the wrong way and smashed against the backboard.
