Club man Eric Boardman of Manchester League Premier Division Atherton Town has died.
Aged 65 Eric had been with the Howe Bridge outfit since it's formation in the 60s and played a massive part in the club's development.
His dedicated service to the club had been officially recognised with a Lancashire FA Order of Merit and he was also a proud recipient of a Bolton Wanderers GOLDLINE Outstanding Achievement in Amateur Football Award. It is thought he died peacefully at home of a massive heart attack. Funeral details have yet to be announced.
