AROUND 800 extra eye operations will be carried out at a hospital in the North this month, the first of which is due to take place later today.
A medical team has flown in from South Africa to perform cataract operations at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The Morecambe Bay Hospitals Trust has partnered with the organisation Netcare to make the scheme possible.
The have provided a team of 12 consultant surgeons and anaesthetists for the surgery.
