Where?

On Deansgate, near St Anns Square, in what used to be THE drinking district for dressed-up types before Deansgate Locks arrived and out-snazzed them.

What?

RSVP is an attractive chain bar which boasted sleek wooden furnishings and comfy couches when Loaf was just a twinkle in an architect's eye. There is also a smattering of tables outside for some Parisian pavement caf action, although I wouldn't recommend testing that out for another eight months or so.

Handbag or heavy metal?

With a crowd-pleasing attitude when it comes to music, RSVP sticks to charty, background tunes in the day, with screens offering MTV style videos. As the night progresses the atmosphere tends to get a little livelier with chart and disco tunes pumping out on a Friday and Saturday nights.

In Crowd?

RSVP is very popular with the after work crowd and a fair few suits can be spotted after 5pm. Later on in the evening the focus changes, with a mixed age range of lively, dressed up punters vying for elbow space at the bar.

What's The Damage?

As anyone who has been drinking on Deansgate should know, you won't get much change from a tenner for three drinks. But hey, this isn't a Student's Union or a working men's club, now is it?

Verdict?

A pleasant, reliable bar with a good lunchtime menu and an appealing interior, a nice option for ladies who lunch, and a lively, if slightly tacky, choice for the weekend.
