IT has been revealed that school children are at serious risk of developing back problems because of the weight of their school bags.
The British Chiropractic Association (BCA) surveyed parents and found that more than half of them thought their children's satchels were too heavy.
To combat the problem, the BCA is offering free half term spinal checks for school children in return for a parental donation to the NSPCC.
Tim Hutchful of the BCA said: "We are acutely aware of the risk and strain that 11-18 year olds are putting themselves under every day at school."
Parents can contact the BCA on 01189 505950 to find their nearest clinic.
